Directories, ads and what you like and dislike

I understand that many people would prefer to possibly see no ads when their at a directory but understandably a directory owner wants to make cash so will use ads of various types on their pages and im wondering what people see as acceptable and what people see as a pain in the arse etc

I realise were all different, one person may use adsense, another banners, another uses lots of flashing banners, pop ups etc

What personally can you tolerate and what annoys you with ads on directories?

Popups/unders etc..Not on. Adsense is ok if a decent blending job has been done and they aren't excessive.

    Too many sitewide links.
This decreases PR juice transferred to the listings, so I think that it really decreases the value of the directory in submitters eyes.

I would have to agree, popups/popunders have to be the most annoying, although I have not come across any in a while so maybe the owners are getting the message.
