No you are not allowed to do that. It is against the TOS to encourage people to click on the banners. You can get banned for that.

evera, sorry, but you are wrong...

    Please read this:
    www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=43870&sourceid=aso&subid=ww-en-et-asblog_2007-1-8&medium=link

"Unlike with AdSense for content ads, we encourage you to endorse referral products by calling attention to the button or text link. If you believe in the quality of the product that you are referring, feel free to let your users know! Of course, in line with our policies, you may not click your own ads nor encourage conversions for deceitful reasons."

    basketmen - yep;)
but don`t be lazy - sent small notice to AdSense Support about your referral button/text strategy...

Because full version of AdSense TOS is line:
"You shall not promote or facilitate a Referral Event by any means other than displaying a Referral Button on the Site, unless expressly authorized in writing by Google (including by electronic mail). "

Remember, this is only for those buttons/banners that allow people to click and download Firefox, etc from your site. This isn't for the adsense... don't go "click here "crazy with those... that's against TOS, but not for the referral buttons.

    Sorry but I'm right.
If he says "Click....." it's against the Tos. But if he makes it clever its allowed. Like when he says "I can recommend Firefox, Adsense,..." it should be ok. But you are still not allowed to say click there, or make big arrows pointing to the ad or similar stuff. I saw people getting banned for that.

You can encourage them to download google products (because it's for google)

You can't encourage them to click ads (because it's for advertisers)

You can say "Click Here To Join Adsense and Making Lots of Money!"; even give it a big paragraph on the different ways to make money using adsense, to make them want to sign up
