I Know that direct traffic is when a user type the url on the address or on a bookmark. I recently did a research about it and found some interesting point.

Clicking a link from an email (depending on email provider/program)
Clicking a link from a Microsoft Office or PDF document
Accessing the site from a shortened URL (depending on the URL shortener)
Clicking a link from a Mobile social media apps like Facebook or Twitter. Phone apps often do not pass referrer information.

details on top are cleared except this one.

    Question:
    1. What if you're in Google search form a secure site then you visit non-secure site that will count as direct?
    2. What if your on linkedin which is secure site and go the non-secure site is that still direct or social?

If it's still pointing "directly" to your site, then yes
