Try to increase unique visitors to your site by providing quality content, it will increase direct traffic and do social book marking too.

Did you stop update your site? Update site with relevant unique content, and so some off page SEO which will give your keywords popularity and traffic. Directory submission, Social bookmarking, Press relies submission, article submission, blog post, blog comment, forum posting another way to get traffic is Social networking like twitter, Facebook

Ummm, direct traffic.. Let me probe a little deeper.. Non-referred traffic? If direct traffic is decreasing, then you probably need to start a social campaign. Most sites suck when it comes to direct traffic anyway, so I don't see what the big deal is.

Direct traffic simply means that the visitors were not referred from another site. If you want to increase direct traffic, create some type of incentive for people to bookmark your site and visit regularly. Like a membership or a forum or something. SEO is not going to do ANYTHING for your decrease in direct traffic.

Participate in more do-follow social bookmarking sites so that your direct traffic will be increased. Social bookmarking drives out the lots of traffic to the site.
