This is a direct selling advertising question, if it's not appropriate for this forum topic, I apologize. I seemed to me the most relavent. For those who advertise what kind of information do you ask publishers before advertising on their website. I have seen places list Alexa rank, Compete rank, Del.icio.us bookmarks, inbound links, Facebook fans, Pagerank, etc. but does this information provide you as an advertiser with any REAL value. If so which ones you feel are crucial and which stats am I leaving out that you would normally like to see ( excluding monthly impressions and monthly unique visitors ). I find Alexa rank or Compete rank shows no real tangible information, but I may be wrong. Your input would be greatly appreciated, Matt Espinet
Alexa rank or Compete rank are good if you have to research 3rd party site and there is no other info available. But if you about to make a deal, you can request Google analytics screenshots from the site owner and see if they make sense to you.
Thank a lot for the response. I'm just wondering, does the Alexa Rank specifically mean anything to you? Or is it more about traffic and demographic estimates? Matt Espinet
1) It is nice to see own Alexa rank is rising 2) many advertisers check your alexa rank before approving it (an require it to be below certain value) 3) if you decide to sell your site or domain, better alexa ranking communicates more traffic, thus demands higher price
Thanks for the quick response. I'm actually working on a direct selling advertising platform so this type of feedback is priceless. You mentioned a low Alexa ranking indicates more traffic, but if the publisher is making his traffic public based on their analytics tool, is the traffic based on Alexa's estimates of any value? Especially since traffic from their analytics software would be more accurate than Alexas estimates.
you right, Alexa stats only good if there is no other info available. Google analytics would be much better if made public.
