I recently stumbled across a rather useful payment gateway called GoCardless. It allows UK Customrs to accept Direct Debit payments and it works with WHMCS. If you are a UK web hosting provider and would like to accept direct debit, try it. You do NOT need to have a business bank account. It works for personal accounts. Direct Debit is a feature you normally associate with business banking. Not now! If you are not a limited company you're unlikely to have a business bank account. Sole traders don't need to have one and a lot of them may choose not to have one. The gateway is simple. The customer pays GoCardless by Direct Debit agreement. Meanwhile, you as the GoCardless client have full control over that direct debit. You can cancel it, etc from your GoCardless control panel. GoCardless pay you. They do NOT charge any monthly fees or setup fees. Only a small transaction fee. In comparison to the exuberant fees charged by PayPal, it's actually a great deal. I started using GoCardless with my company and I find it a very useful gateway. With it having an official WHMCS addon enables me to integrate it into WHMCS.
