    Hi

I've stayed clear of B2B email marketing before now, mainly becuase I've never been a fan and also the "headache" of getting it right, making sure I'm not blacklisted etc etc.

Anyway, as part of my remit, I need to get a campaign going amongst customers and potential customers, so I was hoping for some advice and guidance on how to do it right, staying on the right side of things etc.

A quick summary of UK rules:
You CAN send unsoliciated email to businesses. This is allowed. You are not allowed to send unsolicated mail to private persons.

So - I will be sending out email to exisiting customers, and also businesses who have contacted us via email, requested a quote etc etc.

I have the following questions which are particulary worrying me:

    - How do I avoid IP and domain getting black listed even though what I'm doing is 100% legal

    - Is it worth setting up a new domain which is related to my business for mail shots. If I mess it up, our main domain is far to valuable to be blacklisted.

    - I use shared hosting. Should I consider a seperate host which supports this type of thing and are happy about it

    - Should I consider sending mailshots from fake IP's? (Don't shout at me, I'm just posing the question - is this acceptable?)

    - How do I get around Microsoft Outlooks display images

    - I want the mailshots to be attractive and to be read. Plain text or html? What about clients that won't display html?

So many questions. Any advice and guidance welcome.

    Thanks,

    Martin
