Hi guys, Ive just redesigned my tech blog Digitpedia.com. If you could check it out and let me know what you think about the color scheme and the "general feel" of the site that would be very helpful. It should only take you 30seconds. Any responses much appreciated.
I like the color! PURPLE! Anyways, I made a quick review on your site and here's what I have to say. - Loading speed is slow. - The layout looks good and professional. Best thing for this is putting groundbreaking news, not earth shattering but at least something that would surely get you recurring visitors. Your site looks promising! keep it up!
Guick review: Load time: about 5 seconds. (with roadrunner) First impression: Overall nice design. After looking around: An ok site. Articles get to the piont, and are on related content.(I hate sites that are called like ipod-reviews.com and have realestate related content)
I think you did a great job working with the color you picked. Its a tough one to work with. The ads push far to the right and some users might not be seeing part or all of them. You might want to trim the width down or get the top banner ad underneath the logo. Good luck!
Designing is good. But try to keep all body part of the site content all in one division. .COM is an unwanted part in the logo. if "Tech Blog" is in small and stranded font, will look great. Loading site: 16 sec Anyhow nice work. 6.5/10
I like the purple but technology sites generally use more silver or blue. Your choice whether you want to be familiar or be different.
Thanks for the feedback guys, green rep added for all of you I thought the loading speed was slow. I'm going to try and address that shortly. Yeah I like that idea, I will try an alternative now. Thanks. This has been a concern of mine but I want the site to stand out as different. The original color scheme was silver with small parts purple, so I think overall im glad Ive gone more purple as its kept the original scheme but looks a lot better.
looks good.....i noticed at the bottom that the words "from you, the user. Privacy Notice - Disclaimer - Accessibility Statement - Sitemap" come out of the white box (in firefox anyway).

In response to everything that has been said I have: - reduced the workload to improve home loading time slightly (more will be done in future) - changed CSS so right nav doesn't push to the right but pushes to the left - new header with smaller text and more whitespace Green reps added for helpful advice. I didn't like background color. It does not fit with the category of the site. I can't see a link to read more about the posts which are on homepage. Your logo looks like an ad, not like a logo.
Yes but the only colors that do are light blue and silver. And there are so many tech websites with these I will just get lost amongst them and never remembered, the whole aim is to stand out. Well its very similar to the purple color used on your website so im not sure why you think that. Currently only titles are hyperlinked. I'll change that as thats a good idea. Thanks. The logo is only the text on the left? So im not sure how it can look like an ad (the amazon banner on the right is just part of the header). Thanks again for the feedback. The website has now been accepted into Google News so I need to keep my standards high! All the help is much appreciated.
Excellent site, with good design and esy to navigate. Loading spead was fine in firefox and IE7. One thing i noticedis that the "Digital Cameras" link at the top did not display any children links when i hovered over it, whilst the others did. Anohter thing i would say is that maybe you should think about incorporating some more colour into the article introductions in the home page. Apart from these two minor tweaks great site! I like it. .com in the logo is unnecessary though. Also, the far right column, I really think it's too wide - it's almost as wide as the main content (far left) one. It looks really weird. And the backgroung - f$@k it, it looks different, keep it lol. Edit: Oh, your footer, fix that up, it's not that great looking.
