Digitalpoint's forum > Link Sales section full of dishonest link sellers

Recently I purchased a few links for my site. One was from a site that claimed is was a PR9 site the other was a PR3.

Both PR9 and PR3 site links were two separate sellers but they both ignored my PM's for all of December, January so far.

After the last PR update that PR9 site dropped to a PR2 site and I asked for a refund of my 3 month subscription. As for the PR3 link that site dopped to a PR0 I asked the sellers to refund my money. Both sellers took my money and ran and neither replied even though I could see they had logged in multiple times since early Dec.

    So beware people! These link sellers must be really desperate to make a buck and when they have a chance they will run with your money. Don't do business with the following users;

    User: Medical
    and User: Moffey
    Rotten Slime balls!!!

I warned them well in advance that I would OUT them in the forum. I stated in PM's that I will post their doings here on the forum for all to see. In fact, if a moderator sees this they SHOULD BE BANNED FROM THE FORUM!

Wow. That's too bad. How do you know it didn't used to be PR9, then dropped down to PR2? There's a lot I still don't know yet. Sorry.

My advice is check the PR before doing any business and then move on to another thread. Let someone ELSE get ripped off for not doing research.

Guys I did check their backlink's and their PR's before purchasing. The fact that G though less of them after the last PR update is what it is. The owners of those sites should have given options. For instance, if your charging good money for links you should make damn sure your site keeps its PR if not it is your job to offer alternatives to your customers. Instead of ignoring them or making up some kind of excuse, a partial refund or a full refund is in order. That's just good business practice in my opinion.

Honestly, the better business practice would be to not buy links. Buying links is a shady practice that is frowned upon by search engines (usually people are buying links with the hope of artificially manipulating search results).

You are seeking out shady services, it should come as no surprise that they would be offered by shady people. If you were seeking some other shady service in real life (say you hired someone to break someone else's legs)... That also shouldn't come as a surprise that they didn't give you a partial refund as an outstanding business owner because something didn't end up exactly how you expected.

Either way... best rule of thumb... don't buy links. If you MUST, then use an escrow service for payment.

Good comeback and you are correct but forums like this and one that your active on is not exactly considered whitehat.

    According to who?

Regardless who told you that, link buying is silly (I've never bought or sold links ever in my life), and if you MUST do it, why not protect yourself via escrow?

I teach my kids to ask themselves "is this likely"

You need to learn to do that too.

Is it likely that the admin of a PR9 site will be on digitalpoint selling links? (sorry Shawn, but...)
Is it likely that the admin will be authorised to sell those links when PR9 sites would normally be dealing with advertising brokers?
What is the likely price the admin will sell a link for when s/he is risking getting sacked/sued?
