    Hi All,

I've just had a look at my Alexa ranking and there's a nice healthy blip that I couldn't explain... until I realised it was down to a thread I'd started here on DP about selling my site! :)

Here's the thread that did it: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=786676&highlight=addanimage.com

Attached is the Alexa screenshot :)

Here's the Alexa ranking for AddAnImage.com (it's been better in the past but I'm happy with this): http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/addanimage.com

    Good old DP! :)

    Cheers, p.

DP has a huge effect on websites. Helps with traffic in my signature the most!

Pretty nice stats, do you have any other traffic statistic software/code installed like Google Analytics or Statcounter? How's the traffic performance there?

Yep, I used Google Analytics - I check my stats WAY too often - it's a really good set of tools that help me gauge what keywords and referral sites are working :)

...funny tho I get better keyword stats from the Google Webmaster Tools (sitemaps) - they tell me what the highest keyword clicks are which I find more helpful.

...All in all it just goes to show that writing an interesting thread on DP still rocks! :)

I'd say it's definitely a source of traffic, but not high quality traffic. The people who went to your site were just gauging whether they wanted to buy it, they don't necessarily have any interest in your content, nor will they visit it again once they have decided not to buy.

I'd never have though DP could have such an impact, but I just checked DP's alexa rank and it must be getting a lot of traffic to have that kind of effect on the member sites.

This is very true and unfortunately a gauge on how good the Alexa rankings actually are - we all know that there are tools out there to boost your rankings on Alexa and those have no value at all.

Yay! I couldn't agree more - this thread is also improving my alexa ranking :)

...although I'm not sure whether the fact that Google site Tools has given me the option crawl my site FASTER - which is now showing that more keywords are registering in Google :)

More keywords = More traffic :)

I agree 100% I get probably 20-30% of my sales and traffic from DP.. from just my sig links and blog links..

    its the DP economy :)

Yeah, DP is very helpful for getting good traffic and conversion ;)
but for me Alexa rankings are not that important, its just estimated traffic staffs rather study your website traffic details using Awstats- webliser etc....
You will have better Alexa ranking if your website visitor is having Alaxa bax installed in his browser. Thus Alexa value is not accrate traffic stats.

This is true but Alexa have now found more sources for measuring traffic than just the toolbar - I don't know 'where' they're getting their data from now tho I wouldn't be surprised that someone will discover it and then a way to exploit it! ;)
