I don't normally post in introductionary areas as I try to only post for informations sake. It is curious that the first post I made was deleted within a short time in that the thread was deleted, presumably as a result of my posting a correction. It seems digitally-pointless to post if that is going to happen particularly to a new member who thus feels that their time has been wasted and that factual information is not appreciated.
I do not know what happened. We can edit our posts here for several hours so normally when we correct a post we just edit the original post. Shannon
So someone can start a thread, people reply and then the thread starter can delete the thread because someone posts information that corrects them? I am sorry to belabour this point but the FAQs make no mention of this. It is important to determine the true culture of a forum to decide whether to continue with it or not.
First thing I thought of, aaron_nimocks, but no, it and the entire thread were deleted (my post count was back to 0). Jelly Bean - the Shoemoney thread is rather telling. So are there topics that attract censorship (i.e. that you should not provide information that contradicts the 'establishment') ?
Nothing is censored, but if the thread starter wants to delete their thread within 6 hours of starting it, they can.
Thank you, that explains it. In future I shall wait 6 hours after a thread start before posting. Effectively censorship is in the hands of the thread starter for six hours.
If you post and hit back key before you publish you will loose your post. I have done this before. Shannon
I guess by that measure then everything is censored here since everyone has a brain that decides what they do/don't want to post. {shrug}
Actually, DP is the best moderated forum I think I've been on. It's because you don't notice the mods are there, or the need for the mods. Which is a good thing since they're obviously moving threads/deleting spam efficiently enough for it not to be a problem. I'm allowed to suckup since it's New Years Day
