Hi Just came across this over at XenForo. Basically we're at the cusp of migrating over to XenForo, but one major factor that's stopping us is what our moderators on our current vB setup do. The ability to search through users profiles is quite necessary for us, but on XenForo it's an Admin only function. Yes, we can make everyone admins and limit their permissions, but that's not an ideal scenario (Plus, giving an account "Manage Users" privilege includes giving them to ability manage the moderators, send mass emails out etc). From what I can see, your plugin allows for searching of user profiles, but the screenshots don't show any of that in action. How deep does that go? Is there anyway I can get to see any of this? If it's not suitable, we won't use it. If it gives us what we need, then I'll happily purchase it and be on our way. Thanks in advance
It makes more or less everything attached to the user record searchable with the normal site search function. username, email, custom titles, signatures, home page, location, occupation and all custom profile fields. You can try out the user search here, since it's open to all users (it works similar to Facebook... you can find a user if you know their email, but it won't tell you what their email is if you don't already know it). For example, you could search for "datebytype.com" and a user will come up because they have it somewhere on their user record. Or if you wanted to search JUST for users (rather than have it be part of the global search), you can do it from this tab: https://forums.digitalpoint.com/search/?type=user Like you could find all users with the word "ninja" somewhere on their user profile/record.
Thanks Shawn, I didn't think about trying the search on here (Yes, I know, doh!) Looks like it's half of what we need. (which is more than what we had an hour ago ) It searches where we want, but I have a feeling it's not going to be specific enough (Would be better if we could search only particular fields too, and also for the general user search see where a the positive result was found)
Yeah... probably not going to see it broken down/filtered by individual fields anytime soon to be honest. Doing something like that makes it about 10x more complicated and not really sure how useful it would be for users actually using it.
