Hmm, he goes to the forums and gives to a link to Digg ( In PM's, not even publicly) about the truth that Shawn has defrauded his customers, is a crook that has not delivered a product honoring the support of it, and has not updated the product for what, almost 2 years now.. Hmm.. you be the judge.

The lame excuse is that he spamed via PM a link to the article... Yeah I buy that.

    Direct from his site... link

    Support/Upgrades Free For Life
Yes, you read that right. Tech support and upgrades for life are included with all licensed copies of Optigold ISP billing software. Since a new version comes out every other Friday (with new features and requests), that's a pretty nice bonus.

last update in revision log.. link

    Completed On 11/4/05

Company logo for multi-company licenses shows correctly on payment receipts

Optigold is dead, he should, at the least, release the source code to the public domain as he has mentioned before, instead of leaving the people that have spent thousands of dollars high and dry.

I'd like to see the open source route myself. I like the product, always have. It's easy to use, well organized and works with the Mac. I guess looking down the road, all we need to know is, is the product dead, or is it on hold? Should we stick with it, or move on?

An official comment would be helpful, and would likely put to rest all the dissention lately.

Loyal Optigold user since 1998. Thank you.

I'd just like to know how to get OG to stop crashing.. I believe the root of the problem is Filemaker.. It's always been a POS. That said, a move away from FM would probably be preferred..

Any news on the progress of this?

when you start promoting an idea or anything through spam on pms, not only you get banned, but also you lose your credibility.

Yeah software that sells for under $500 odd sure is all mostly one man shows. Not for more expensive stuff.

Really? Ginsbergs WS4D was well over $500, and he was/is a one man show.. absentee developer now...

I could name so many more out there... OG is well over $500 too...

I don't think price really has anything to do with the size of the operation.

I will say, there are a few one man shows out there that still actually continue to develop and support their customers.. Glenn Anderson who makes EIMS (Eudora Internet Mail Server) formerly AIMS (Apple Internet Mail Server), is still going strong.

Ultimately, while I understand the struggle involved in being a one man show, I think those that are, really owe it to their customers to either officially EOL a product, rather than let it linger on in limbo...
