Please read this thread only if you are one of the webmaster that think using keywords in links in your DP forum signature.

    Hi webmaster friends.
    Let`s clear something here..

I have seen in many forums that only one question was asked repetely by people about Google PageRank. That question was "How to imcrease my website pagerank & and come on top of search engines?"

And the answer there were posted below that kind of threads was "Register your self in forums and add your links with keywords in your signature and be an active member of that forum and post something everyday." (Something like this)

I agree with these repliers that method they are going to say is working really. But the important question for all of us is "Does that method work in DigitalPoint Forum?"

Here is my answer for that question. NO

I have found out in the forum source that the webmaster of DigitalPoint forum uses "nofollow" tags for our links in the forum signatures.

So searchengines will not follow our links from this forum. And this will never help you by rank increasement.

If you are one of the member who are in a dream of increase your PageRank by being active in DP Forum, Don`t waste your time..

I thinks this thread is important for that kind of people. I know many of you have used keywords in signature in a dream of get top position in search engines.

I know time is very important thing in our machine life.

I just want to help you all! I don`t hope that DP forum webmaster or moderator that will ban be from this forum because of this thread.

I do not see the "nofollow" attribute on the signature links.

I second aaron's opinion. And you come to DP to share useful info, even if you get a "no follow" tag why the complaint?

Actually I joined these forums not too long ago, and the site in my signature only went live that day. GoogleBot was all over my site within 2 days of posting.

And your signature links do not contain "nofollow" attributes.

EDIT: And in fact the site in question is already PR5

The nofollow tag is used within the code on the forum, but not on signatures.

Get your facts right before you start shouting yer mouth off.

Sometimes i wonder how some people never learned to use facts to back up their statements... all he had to so is a search in the sourcode for a sig link Oo

There is no nofollows as far as i can see in my sourcode, and as far as im aware the source code is the same forall :D

Some boards (such as pHpBB) has the possibility or a mod to put a "nofollow" in the sig for new members. This is to prevent bot or spam memberships. Afther a while or after a mumber of post this could be set off.
Perhaps DP does or did this for new members ... I don't know... but this possibility exists

Nope... this forum doesn't apply nofollow to signatures (and never did).

You can use nofollow if you want, but you would have to specifically do it yourself with the [url] BBCode.

Although the original poster is wrong, do we really want people posting useless crap just to get backlinks from their sig? ;)
