Hey everybody, I was smoking some pot last night and a crazy idea came to my mind... oh, boy, I couldn't stop laughing, I even woke up my neighbors...

So... check this out.... I am going to buy a big block of gold, and then I will carve it into a huge DP logo... oh boy, it will be so cool! I will take a photo of it and upload it so everybody in the world can see it and I will be promoting this forum! I only need you to help me pay 5 guys that will help me with the design, and I will also need the block of gold, of course, so please help me reach my goal of $100,000 for this project. Please let me know if you can help so I can send you my paypal address

yfs1 You are so fast.. can't follow ;) Ok, answering you questions now..

Regarding the members. Of course i have some friends at the forums here, and just thinking logically, its obvious that i will find 3 members from 30,000 here that will be happy to take the trip with me. I have no one particular in mind.

Regarding previous events, i was not a member yet AFAIK or maybe i just missed it, the fact that you supported is only a plus, well done.

    Regarding the 75K..
Those are not going to my pocket, i do not want them. And i am not looking to travel all around the world for your pocket money, check here, i'v already travelled enough and have my tires changed 10 times ;) I am looking for the adventure itself. For "doing something, for the public, with the public"..

I am sorry you think i am trying to make cash of the DP popularity selling those shirts.. no i dont. It is even funny to tell that i made $2,17 till now from selling two copies and i am afraid Shawn will ask for his 30%.. i have no idea what shall i be sending him :)

    Back to the topic..
Please do not take this in person. It just sounded that you were making a joke of it or something.. which upset me as i was real serious trying to make this happen. If it won't (and i already read some minds that it won't) i also wont be angry, at least i tried.

    Good luck, and thank you.

Brownies for the idea, for sure. And I noticed it cuts straight through my Dutch hometown so if this happens, I'll be there with cold beer for you.

Well, I always joke around but thats how I am in real life. If you find the Indian Webmaster event thread you will see I joked around there, doesn't mean I didn't support it.

I will give my .02 then leave the thread as it isn't my intention to give you a hard time but I think it would be cool if you just organized it and did it. If you had other DP members also doing it, it would grow the interest organically.

However, if you put a price tag on it, you are destined to get a lot of questions and joking. Think about it, people donating 75k for someone else to go on a trip and promote something that doesn't directly benefit them. Even Shawn hasn't gotten 50k yet!

However if you took the reverse apporach and just did it and were meeting all kinds of DP members throughout Europe, posting pictures and stories on your blog or in a thread, I would be inclined to throw you a couple of bucks because it was pretty cool.

Can you see where I'm coming from?

Exactly, i see myself in your shoes and totally agree with what you said.

This was why i posted it all, to get some people interested in organizing such an event. I never organized something so big, and have no idea of how this can be made. All i know is that i want it to happen, and as you mentioned it is cool. Whenever i see that there are some people interested, we can start getting things organized, calculating kilmeters and putting schedules. In the other hand, and as i see lots of "jokes" being made, i am forced to take down this thread, and confess that i was smoking some pot as fryman said ;D

This is all folks, thats for all those who have contributed to this thread.

PS> Thanks everybody for those red reputation dots, this thread costed me too much of those so i better end it

And btw, you have my word on one thing that i learned from my three experiences making something for DP.. will never try again

    Good luck everybody, Ruslan

When are you going to come up with something refreshing and innovative rather than always complaining from the coziness of your little comfort zone? It's always negativity you broadcast on this place. Is there something wrong with you? The guy has a healthy dose of fantasy, sets high goals for himself and dares to dream. There's absolutely nothing wrong about that. That's how great things happen and great people develop. With your "can't do" attitude, nothing will ever be accomplished.

Abuzant, don't let a few negative people change your beliefs. Nothing great ever happened by taking care. You need to take risk to fulfil your dreams. Good on you. Keep it up and you'll get where you want.

If you want it to work, why not let the original idea develop. Rather then looking for donations first, try to figure out what could work.

For instance, rather then hotels, staying at DP members houses. Or split the trip into "legs" where a DP member joins you for a few days on each one.

I think its the money aspect that is getting in the way of a good idea

Hey, I have an idea also! Why do you take my dream down?

Now are you going to give me one of your usual "thread hijacking" infractions??? THAT is what I would call BS :D

    lol

You are hijacking it now and you never had the balls to actually reply to my question in that thread. Just goes to show the type of person you are. Drop off your negative influence and run to the next thread to ruin. Nice tactics.

Anyway, there's no point in trying to chanche things that won't change so I'll ignore your BS. I hope others see the same pattern and stop taking offence.

To take it back on topic, Abuzant, don't say you'll stop trying. That would only cause a very boring life. The only improvement you can make here has to do with selling your ideas. Yfs1 has said some wise words. Don't see this as failure, it's just feedback. Learn from it and try to do better next time.

    See?
We now have another way of getting it done. And i am sure more members can spam us with some more ideas, which will finally develop into the correct version of it being done. Which is again, the reason why i started the thread.

Will you "for example" be interested i launch this as an official project, register it a domain, collect ideas, set a time frame for it to happen, make people able to suggest places to visit, suggest how to organize visits to DP members and etc.. ??

Yeah i lied again, said that im off the thread and still replying and reading replies.. Well, i still think it might work to be honest. :shy:

A trip through Europe would be great, as long as it doesn't start in Amsterdam. Many have started their trip there ... and never made it out ;)

The other thing is I think some people would require a VISA for each seperate country. I know I do for a few of the spots the logo hits (Like Russia)

Thats when I knew it's going to be good.

    abuzant,
Anyway, while I doubt you will be able to raise $75K from DP members, I can't believe a few reds will stop your dream.

You said you would like to start in Turkey, well I'm not sure crossing all these border with Turkish license plates is going to be as easy as using German, French, Dutch or any other European license plates for that matter. Maybe you should consider a better starting point.

I like the idea of 'couch hopping' your way roughly across the logo boundaries, crashing at members' places. Like I said, it cuts through the place where I grew up so I'll make sure to be there if this takes off.

That version would require far less of an investment. And if you do it like the athelete runners passing the baton, it doesn't require a group to do the whole tour. It'll be like a London tour bus where you can hop on and off as you see fit. If people have the money and travel documents to just do France, Belgium & Holland, then that's fine, others can join in later.

    I like the idea.
