Hello everybody, In some cases, people close their eyes and start dreaming. We all dreams. The fuuny part starts when you start beleaving that your dream is becoming true. I am writing this small introduction to aviod people posting H1 tags telling me that i am crazy, i am not.. i am just dreaming, and willing to know weather or not this can be made real. The idea in a nutshell is to get a car, a team of 2-4 adventure seekers, and start a trip all around europe drawing the digitalpoint logo over the current political map. (see blueprint below) My wife suddenly woke up asking "what happended?, why are you laughing?" in the middle of the night when this idea came to my mind about 04:00 AM.. i laughed for some more minutes before heading towards my desk again to make something of those dreams i had in mind. Wee, to keep the attraction to the topic, i'd say imagine yourself walking in your city and seeing some car all tagged with digitalpoint.com (or other sponsors) flags and stickers just in your city... wouldn't you be surprised? What if they stop and give you a nice branded pen with www.digitalpoint.com printed there.. how many years will you keep showing than pen to your friends? The idea, and if it finds the real people to help it work can be a greeeeat help as for digitalpoint itself as for all of us here. Shawn and the domain itself will be on all TV stations in Europe if not all around the world.. We webmasters here will have to be blogging months about what we think about it, what happeded when we meat the travelling team and osting pictures of ourselves drinking some beer in every european city that we will visit. This can be typed about for 2 more hours.. but i am sure you already got a good prospect of what i have in mind. Right? Now, here is the blueprint of the map i tried to put as a sketch.. trying to pass as much cities as possible to meeat as many of you webmaster here as possible. If you have a better version of lying the DP logo over Europe, please post in this thread. Logo red border = our travel line Ok, for now, i want to give you some time to think all about it. Please do not be a pesimist when posting your comments and/or suggestions. There is two questions that i would really love to see some answer for here in this thread.. If possible, please make sure to include your versions of the answers. 1- Is there anybody interested here from USA and/or Canada, to make another team that will do the other half of the world? Dual teams at once shall really get double the attention. 2- If this starts to become real, what would be the amount of money you are ready to donate to help developing this project? PS> Project predicted costs around $50K-$75K PS2> If approved, we will work out the travel schedule and post here for you to be waiting for us with some cold beer Ok, 08:43 AM here and i'v been crazy enough today.. will go take some rest hopefully this thread will at least have some answers when i come back. Fun idea. This kind of trip will take months considering you want to stop at major cities and pull the press wagon behind you. Webmasters are not the right crowd for this adventure, unless they are retired or have someone else take care of the business while they are away.
I have the team, or lets say 75% of the team already waiting. I need the support and finances to start this. And i am taking 0% profit
So they wouldn't be DP people taking the trip, it would be strangers who would be promoting DP? Im trying to figure out why DP members would donate 75K to have a couple of strangers pull a billboard through Europe. Sounds like you are just selling advertising which Shawn may be interested in directly

I was just asking questions. You are looking for donations from DP members to fund this trip (75K worth) I didn't think I was being negative at all. I guess I will give the standard post padding response then and make you happy Good luck!!! I wish I could attend....maybe next year!!
abuzant, I think you are going to get a lot of comments like yfs1's. Because when removing all the fluff from your initial post, on the bottom line, you are looking to finance the road trip you and your buddies want to do across Europe in a creative way.
Which is fine...I just thought it was weird he already had it all planned even down to who was going when his first post was just "floating the idea" I thought I was actually being nice but to tell you the truth, now that I got the response I did I think this guy is trying to profit from DP's popularity at every turn (Selling shirts with the logo, trying to get 75k from DP members donations to drive around Europe representing DP with his friends that don't even post here) I mean call a spade a spade. For the record, I actually thought the idea was cool until his response (as long as it was some DP members just having a good time meeting other DP members)

Sorry. hextraordinary: While you are absolutley right, i still have the same amount of excitment to do that for DP as that for doming the trip itself. I mean, i wont do that for eBay for example even if they pocket me another 75K just for doing it Also, when i said i had a team.. i meant that i have friends here at these forums that would be ready to contribute their time and efforts. I am not bringing my mom and her friends with me those are all people from the same battle field.
No, I certainly wasn't....I was actually curious about it at first. Are there members that are looking to seriously take the trip or do you mean support it financially (again out of curiousity) If you look at previous events such as the India DP meet you will see that I supported them with both money and sent a gift. So I think I have a track record for supporting such events as I think they can be pretty cool. If you are looking for something like 75K though, I think its kinda fair to ask a few questions (who wouldn't). Even if you included petrol, ferry prices,and accomodation, I couldn't see it getting past 3-4K for 3-4 people.
