digitalpoint.com for sale on Amazon.com?

Anyone think it's strange that Amazon.com assigned a part number to the digitalpoint.com domain (and some others I own)?

Search amazon for part numbers: B00006DSHE, B0001VYFSG

Awhile back I came across the same thing for my web site.
It's strange to see, isn't it?

It's not for sale really, just think it's funny they assigned a part number to it.

    No.

They've been doing this for a fair while now. They call it the "Associates Community", and it's still, after some time, nominally in beta. There's a FAQ and Associate can reach when logged into his or her account.

    A few extracts:

"Our Associates Community program is a browsable, categorized view of many Associate Web sites."

"The Associates Community program only includes sites that we could easily identify as Associate sites using an Alexa crawl."

"A site detail page is very similar to a product detail page. Sites even have unique Amazon Standard Identification Numbers (ASINs), just like books, CDs, and cameras!"

" . . . we only use DMOZ data, in compliance with its licensing terms." [for categorizing sites]

Of course, if the sites they've given ASINs to are *not* Associate sites, _then_ it would be amusing.
