Yeah, there were a short while without access to Dp forum, but it was so short that I think most ppl even didn't noticed that.

When are people going to understand that running websites, especially busy ones like DP, takes maintenance.

Database maintenance... (Flushing, repairing, upgrading etc.)
OS maintenance... (Linux kernels, package management etc.)
Server software maintenance... (Apache, PHP updates/patches etc.)
Application software maintenance (VBulletin upgrades and patches, MODs upgrades etc.)

Every one of them can mean a person, Shawn, has to overwrite files and reboot to make the changes live. Then when it's live, he has to check if it works. Sometimes it doesn't, so you undo.

All of that takes time so there's no point in reporting any such downtime unless it's over an hour. Remember, DP isn't the only website, you won't die. There's a world out there. You will survive. Try ringing your mother for instance. After an hour, it will be fine and you can check who red repped you again.

i'm getting tired of all these 'DP dowwwwwwwwn!" threads. they're pointless since DP is never down for more than a few seconds.

    http://www.digitalpoint.com and http://forums.digitalpoint.com is different. ;)

I was about to use the digitalpoint.com tools thats why I've posted these thread on tools. Anyway, maybe DNS problem here. I can use it now. Thanks for the response anyway.

I understand but I can't use it for almost 3 hours from the time I reported it and just want to know if there is problem with my ISP or it's just DP. Thanks anyway. :)

Do you have problems with my thread? Stay away from it. Might save you some time to do more worthy things rather than flaming someone . If you have problems with my thread report it to mods and mods will decide whether the post is pointless or not.... but as of now I still haven't received any infractions stating that I've created a "pointless thread". :D

of course i do. if not i wouldn't say so. =/ but you posted it in a public place. so i can't 'stay away' even if i wanted to.

i haven't reported it because it did not break any DP rules. contrary to what you believe, i have common sense.

now that you say it's the main digitalpoint.com and not this forum, i retract my words. had you been clearer in your first post...

btw, in case you haven't noticed, T0PS30 (and practically everyone else) was on the same wavelength as i was.

I have faced downtime and database errors, but nothing that last more than a few seconds or, in rare moments, up to a few minutes.

By the way, still wondering how people can come to post if the site is down, LOL

If it's longer than an hour, you can bet your life on it it's your connection and not DP.
