Digital Zoom vs Optical Zoom

What is the difference between Optical Zoom and Digital Zoom of camera?

 

I think Digital Zoom is better than Optical Zoom.

Optical zoom is way better than digital zoom. If you use digital zoom and take pics then it won't come as clear as the one take via optical one.

 

There's no point in digital zoom..it's just zooming in on the same pixels you have and so you're better off not using it when shooting on your camera, just do it on your PC later.

This shows how bullshit some of the members here are. They will just randomly throw out guesses and make a fool of themselves without spending a second to do a bit of research.

 

We all know. Can you stop posting crap like this? Thanks. There could be reasons why a digital zoom may be a better alternative to an optical zoom.

Strange thread actually..... Optical zoom doesn't affect the quality of pictures, at the same time digital zoom enlarges the certain part of photo with a lack of quality of course.

I always prefer optical zoom, it gives more clear and sharp images, better quality.
