Digital Point Weekly Newsletter?

OK...we all hate those damn newsletters that somehow we were duped into or somehow got on that email sold list. However, there are 2 that I signed up for due to the great up to date and interesting topics (one for application architecure and the other SEO news).

The format is conducive to member interaction. As an example, there is a section called "Help your fellow members" and picks a good question thread. It illicits community feedback on a particular thread and gets the "vets" out of the same topic rut.

Another good reason to offer a weekly / bi-monthly newsletter is to provide a vehicle that members can create mini-articles discussing theory, application, or just cool ideas. Naturally the teaser summary will link to the thread and the discuss flows naturally.

As the forum leadership knows the life and blood of the board is member activity. The newsletter can be run by a select group of members with team mentorship...by the members, for the members, and of the members!

    So, what do you think?

there is like a semi-annual newsletter, and as DP reminds us in each one - he hates writing them. There hasn't been one for a while though. I kinda miss the shortest newsletter on the internet :p

I know how it is to write newsletters...but if the work load can be shifted from the moderator/admin team to a motivated group of members it would allow the community to take charge.

Probably not going to happen to be honest... the "quarterly" newsletter for the keyword tracker only goes out once in awhile (it was due for June 1, but I didn't feel like doing it). A weekly one seems like way too much work considering I'm lucky to get out 1 or 2 per year on the "quarterly" one. :)

Hahaha! Yeah, Shawn's famous for his 'quarterly' newsletters. I think I've had three since I joined. :D

You have 28,000+ members with ~13,000 active maniacs on the forum...I'm willing to bet that you can ask for a volunteer staff to make this work. I understand the desire to reduce workload so I'll stop kicking a dead horse :)

News letters are good but, why should we need a news letter, when we are here for 24hrs a day?? A forum annoucement will do that!!
