Hey guys, So I joined this forum on the recommendation of a friend, he said it had a great marketplace, however he has told me that the recent changes have really affected his sales. Have any of you guys experienced a significant drop in the number of sales of your digital items? Regards, Mr Helpful. P.S. If not, why do you think that there has been a decline?
If you ask, Digital Point will tell you traffic is up which I personally find hard to believe. I would think most people selling would have had a significant drop due simply to there being less people about, those people being allegedly "not the sort of users DP want". DP have stated they want people that contribute to all parts of the site, not just the market place so those only interested in the market place are realistically being forced elsewhere. My opinion only.
Hi Mr. Helpful, I think the slight drop was probably due to some of the new rules introduced such as the "get 3 likes", etc. But i think that's all temporary, and those increased security measures will increase the site quality, and thus attracting newcomers to check it out... So I wouldn't worry too much about that Hope that helps!
Changes are always a double edged sword. I'm sure some sellers are gnashing their teeth cursing the powers-that-be, while others are grinning ear-to-ear because they are consistent contributors to the site and their sales have increased because they are not fighting as much noise in the MarketPlace. I have used the MarketPlace in the past and always found great new clients...DP Members are great to work with.
Yes, very true. Although my post count would show the contrary, I've actually been a member of this forum for almost 2 years now, but when I first started visiting the majority of posts I came across at the time offered very little valuable information. I've seen, in the past week or so since I've revisited this forum, some really cool and insightful information that has not only been helpful, but has evoked quality responses from the DP community. So just from that, I would agree that the site quality has increased and the posts members are contributing would attract newcomers - aka prospective customers. Only time will tell, but from what I've seen, this can only be a good thing for attracting great potential customers and should weed out a lot of lower quality product creators/service providers in the marketplace.
I think that Digital Point have evidence to show that this forum is better and that there are more visitors after change and introducing the ''3 like'' rule. Also I'm pretty sure that quality of visitors has increased. But that is my opinion.
I also experienced drop in my sales because new threads not open. Therefore, i have less opportunity to present my product to clients. Anyway, i think, situation will be better within 3 or 4 months. According to my point of view, 3 likes rules better for everyone. i will improve the site quality and quality visitors also.
Yape! Your points are concisely accurate as well. I think today's DP is merely much more attractive, secured and full of important contents as well. Because now in our territory(the world of DP) all the users are trying to contribute with the helpful and informative contents by their utmost abilities so far. This is called quality and quality always smarter than just simple countable quantity.
"I" am grinning from ear to ear as I am getting a dozen sales and repeat customers combined! There is not the crap and other spamming and crowding like before.
it is still good but i found that the new rules make the market place less active. However, it actually good in future in reducing the scammer
Unfortunately because, although I have been a member here for ages, I only have 1 like (the shame!) I cant post anything in the marketplace forum. So I decided to post about my new script in the paid marketplace. To be honest, I don't know what has happened to the traffic, I am getting the odd visit compared to dozens in the old marketplace. I really hope it improves! or hope I can get 3 more likes to be able to join the "enlightened ones" in the big boys forum. LOL
Thanks BusinessMaker, in fact I have been a member here since around 2000 but it was under another user id which I lost when I came off the internet for a year. I have probably posted about 1000 posts here over the years and yet still cant start a post in the forum. Oh well!
I am unable to find from where and how to get 3 likes? Cant find any kinda Like button or Symbol! Please advise..
Hi, You wont get/see 'like' button unless you'll be a Established Member. You will be a Established member after 48 hours of your registration in DigitalPoint along with you got 3 'like's from 3 different existing Established Members. One need not to be afraid ; I saw a user/member who got 5 likes by only 1post. The point is you are to share/contribute something helpful/useful to others. So, start to post something important and informative which is very familiar to you. There are hundreds of section in Forum tab you see. I guess you're an expert in about atleast one section among them as well. Good Luck! N.B. - DON'T ASK ANYONE TO LIKE publicly or privately otherwise you'll be banned. And even after being a established member DON'T LIKE ANY DUMB THINGS TO HELP ANY ONE BECOME ESTABLISHED you will also be banned then.
I can understand how sales can perhaps drop due to the 3 likes issue new members now have but it does make the marketplace more cleaner and less prone to spam. It is a change but it's certainly a benefit for the more serious marketers.
