Digital Point Home of Scammers?

I've been buying, selling, and developing websites since I could understand code, at least 6-7 years. Throughout that time I've never been scammed when selling a developed website. Although in the past 2 weeks, I have sold 2 things, a template, and an entire company, and both times sold off of DP, both times, I was scammed, that person now has the template and his money, luckily I wasn't stupid enough to hand over the company to this guy before I checked him out on paypal, before I could check him he filed a chargeback, this is a joke, is DP a joke? Sitepoint, Clantemplates, Talkfreelance, I've sold on these sites and many more and never been scammed but digital point is like the home of scammers, am I wrong? Maybe DP needs better mods, I don't know but this is a joke, will not be visiting and selling on this website anymore. Not that anyone will care since I am 1 in thousands, but just thought I'd post.

There will always be people wanting to scam others, offline or online. You take the good with the bad. Suggestion? https://www.escrow.com next time around. :)

I'm being scammed as a seller not a buyer. I sell something, they pay me, I give them the files or whatever was bought, file an unauthorized paypal payment, they get their money back and there isn't shit I can do about it from that point.

Which is exactly why I stated what I did. Go read this page and see the part that reads "How Sellers are protected". I know some people that have had this issue before, and the only other option besides some type of escrow would be pay 50% up front, get your service/product, and then pay the balance over. Good luck.

Would you sell something offline and just take a check and hand something over?

You need to protect yourself. DP is not a party to your deal and they take no money. How you conduct yourself and protect yourself during any transaction is up to you.

    Sorry you were scammed.

Scammers are everywhere, not just DP. In real life also you meet lots of pathetic people. You just need to be careful. I have been scammed once in DP. But that doesnt stop me from buying or selling on DP. Because I have had LOADS of positive buying selling and only a few scams. I was just stupid enough to believe that seller.

There are lots of precautions one can take to not get scammed. Check itraders, check their number of posts, their reputation. Beware of people you doubt. Specially beware of people who hardly have any posts or have negative itraders.

It's your fault for not checking his itrader and previous transactions. If you find other sites better feel free to never return to DP but i assure you there are scammers everywhere.

Dont say that. I think he is just a bit upset for being scammed. Everyone is, some get over it faster, some complain and then feel better. Probably we can help him know the tricks to be safe from scammers. In that case, we wont lose a member here :)

We should all conduct due dilligence before buying, selling or investing in something so we can minimize being scammed.

I agree with the above suggestion about Escrow.com. The only negative with them is the extra money involved in using them to complete a transcation. I used them before when buying a domain from someone on Sedo and it went very well.
I wonder are there any cheaper versions of Escrow that DigitalPoint could promote.
