First ..GREAT BLOG ..shoemoney..really great reading ..lol

Mods ..I think you have a tough job and so do the webmaster as we all know.

I just hope that we KEEP in mind that this how WE ALL make our money. So lets be sure ...before... we really crack down on "pm this" and "pm that" just seems low on the list per-say.

Again..Just my take on it ..and I do post less..and I buy a lot less from here.

SO I guess it works :0)

Yikes, I just finished watching tonight's American Idol and I mistakenly thought I was done for the night hearing rants by people who have never learned the meaning of "No" when spoken by people in authority.

Recieved a grey rep for that post with the following comment
I'm not quite sure I understand what he's getting at, but whoever left that rep, please don't post here again until I'm banned

I might not agree with everything OP said, but I see a drop in traffic at forums.digitalpoint.com in last 2 months.

Now that post is a call for infraction :p :D....J/K.

BTW every system needs a change and the change has to be for good or bad. I don't think any mod or Shawn would really care about some people not coming to DP. It's always better to have a small amount of quality people rather than a huge number of dumb people in a forum. Also, life does not end at Digitalpoint...If you are not happy here, just move on. Find a place which will make you happy.

Could it be that Alexa is about the worst source for this? You know better Sumit...

Well! I monitor Digital Spy most of the time and I keep seeing new registrations all the time. I reckon it will not be long before DP has a member base of over 1 million the way things are going. Which is great for Shawn but even better for business. DP is by far the best Business Forums I have seen on this glorious planet.

Hmm ive gotten only one infraction and i dont think it was the best reason but who cares?

Obviously if you get 10 infractions your doing something wrong even if half of those were not valid lol

I had no problems at dp and i like this forum...

I care. I am sitting on 9 infractions and have done so for quite some time. I did something bad and regretting it ever since. However, it's not too long now before I gain an infraction point back to bring it back to 8.

This is why I value DP so much. Because the owner (Shawn) can see through the rubbish and with discernment can issue appropriate punishment to those who make mistakes and fall short of the forums guidelines.

rofl, also the American Idol matephor was nice too ..... where's Simon Cowell when you need him ....

I'm always annoyed when I get an infraction, but then I shouldn't swear at people.

In the end it really doesn't matter, the dp forums are huge and full of resources, if thats not what you came for then youre bound to get in trouble.

I partially agree to what Spidey said. Mods are a bit too harsh these days. But like someone said, spammers should be tortured, those who dont know how to behave at a public forum should no doubt be banned.

Here in DP, post count is over hyped. May be because it enables people to sell their signature space, avatar space etc...But it definitely is over hyped. Think of the little infractions you receive for posting stuff like "thank you for your great service". The infraction will say "running up post count / post has no value" etc...May be it doesn't have a value for mods, but to the person to whom the post is addressed, it is a token of appreciation for his excellent work. And when you talk about his service in public (and not on PM), it will only help other people recognise the value of service he offers.

Therefore I am not sure how the value of a post should be decided.

I agree. I was given an infraction for... saying I was interested and was going to send a PM for some offer. But.. I was also suggested to send them a PM or rep instead. So... I guess it's good (and polite!) to say thank you, and send small positive comments/feedbacks to the users, but it is best to do it via PM or rep (That's even better;) ) so the forum doesn't get clogged up.
