On expiry of the Premium membership term, will his/her listing get deleted as well?

Members that don’t sell on DP may purchase premium membership for the listing, if links are going to be added and then deleted every month, the directory would suffer.

How many directory owners that offer yearly listings delete the listing after a year? Lots of owners I know will leave the listing if it adds value to the directory.

    Thanks Brian

great idea shawn, this may be what gets me as a premium member :)
I had this question as well,
can we buy a membership for 6 months, add our links and not renew the membership, will our link remain?

Yes, the directory is only for sites listed by premium members. If a user isn't a premium member any longer, they don't receive the benefit after the fact.

Just an extra incentive for people to spend money on premium membership, people that have helped build this forum.

How long before DP is a paid only forum?

    Thanks Brian

DP will never be a paid-only forum. Non-premium members can still do what they always have been able to do (before there were premium memberships). With the exception being 2 links in signatures, but that was going to change regardless (in fact, I was very much for reducing them to 2 and also making them nofollow/hiding from search engines... but was talked out of it).

Opening up a free for all directory for ~400k users would be an insane amount of managing/moderation, and would also cause additional problems (like people creating duplicate accounts for every listing they wanted to put in). I suspect you would agree since the directory in your signature is a paid directory. :)

I see your point regarding 400k users; wouldn’t you consider a lifetime listing for premium members that have paid for a year?

    Thanks Brian

Nah... the directory is just a (very small) benefit of many for premium members. The less listings in the directory, the greater the benefit for existing premium members, so...

Could probably sell directory listings without premium membership, but that's not really the point of the directory. The directory is to help existing premium members get business/traffic.

Trying to increase membership here ;) Nice feature. But how about benefiting alot more members, having it Premium OR 1000+ Posts?

Would be more inclined to have it be premium AND 1000+ posts vs. OR. The less listings, the more benefit there is for the ones listed.

True, true, but surely the ones dedicated to DigitalPoint, you'll want to 'reward' somehow? Plus, the ones that pay you, the same. Thats my motive.

There are a ton of things that DP gives to all users for free (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/ for example). It's just one of those things... if you give away directory listings for free, but charge for the keyword tracker, then the users who are interested in the KW Tracker will gripe that *that* isn't the thing that's free. :)

And in truth, the keyword tracker is infinitely more valuable than the directory (there are 95k users tracking 2.8M keywords), so I suspect others would agree. :)

Wouldn't SEO just go under Marketing? You can list 1 site.
