It seems with Digg's new algorithm that their voting system has become more susceptible to vote inflation from the normal sources. But this weakness in their vote code gives a window for Digg farmers to spam it to hell. Here is my proof that the Digg vote has been subverted: http://adammchugh.com/exploits/soci...orithm_could_be_it's_downfall_2008012623.html
Hmm, quite interesting. Not only because of the Digg flaw itself but also the fact that you just put the code right out there.
I put the code out there because I believe it is already in use by others at the moment. And such a flaw so obvious should be brought to the attention of the community. Still waiting on an email from Digg regarding this flaw though
My bad, i think i will have to turn them off then. And yes, I have informed Digg of this flaw but i have not heard anything from them in the last week or so.
First up it logs into a given Digg account, verifies it's connection to the digg.com site. Then visits a given Digg page and then fires the Dig javascript command with the data needed to submit a vote. In effect the command can be used in rapid succession through a proxy with multiple accounts to attain popular status through dummy Digg accounts.
Forgive my ignorance, but what changed that made this "cheat method" possible on Digg, where before it was not?
it became more feasible for this method when Digg revamped their voting structure. People with 0 friends on their list are hitting the FP on Digg with just 19 votes.
