"Digg" Traffic - Webmaster & SEO nightmare!!!!

    I think you're missing the point of why webmasters want to get onto social networking sites. The traffic itself is inconsequential.

    What you should remember is that a high proportion of Digg users are also bloggers, so exposing your article/tool/whatever to them is likely to result in a high number of backlinks.

    I've seen pages that have hit the Digg front page hit 80,000 backlinks within a couple of weeks.

    sites like digg can get a lot of exposure to your work but if the server can't support that traffic better refrain from submitting articles on such networks

    exactly but digg and similar sites are like a key to the gold mine so if you know the server can handle the traffic nothing like it. recently i started a new blog submitted it on some sites and the site got indexed in google in less than 5 minutes.
