I would think that it would be very simple to ban people through this system. Currently every post people enter into the DiggBoss system it links directly to Digg or Stumble. It would be very easy for Digg or Stumble to ban all accounts having activity from this site. Ex. 30 diggs referring from DiggBoss to user: digguser's digg post means they are cheating on the network and an instant ban. Why can't users post URL's to their site and people can digg or stumble from the actual pages themselves? This would eliminate this problem.
If you have cleanly noticed the links in DiggBoss, they link to Digg through a link from DiggBoss but the http referrer is not known to digg. This way its clean
Can't Digg see that the user is being redirected by DiggBoss? Maybe the site should use another anonymizer or provide non-live version of the link. PS: It should be a separate topic for posting invites for people who want to test it.
No! Thats the reason its good. When you click a Digg link in DiggBoss, it almost does the same as you type the whole text in the URL bar. So Digg thinks you entered Digg from your browser and not from DiggBoss
My log stats would log this as a link from DiggBoss. I could easily see any links that are being "redirected" this way as a referrer of DiggBoss. Digg definitely can do the same.
i am unable to confirm this statement of yours. i test the system using this link: http://www.whatismyproxy.com:8080/raw-http-headers.php and this is the redir program used in DiggBoss: http://diggboss.com/redir.php?r=http://www.whatismyproxy.com:8080/raw-http-headers.php it shows no referrer from DiggBoss. i did the test using Firefox 2. what browser are you using? mind to post a screenshot of your test using the above link? thanks
