This might not be the right forum to discuss the validity of social networking links, but can someone explain this further or point me to the right forum?

Basically, paying for social networking links is a *bad* idea, because you'll wind up hurting yourself and they have little linking value anyway - is that right?

The main idea behind the freebie section is to keep free and low priced stuff out of BST. This prohibits ppl to get useless iTrdaers.

Does this include thread offering Social bookmarking services and not exchanges. I mean "Social bookmarking to xxx sites for a fee". Is this allowed or not allowed.

It really doesn't matter - IF your a person who is/was selling social bookmarking - This is a signal that you should/will have to diversify and spread your eggs over a number of baskets.

Good thing that I realized this a year back and now these unexpected things dont hurt even a bit!

It should come as no surprise to people. We talked about eliminating this kind of thing back in December.

Rob, I guess not EVERYONE checks EVERY THREAD every day - Most of the guys who hang out at BST just check their own threads or check for competition - So, it might have come as a big surprise for all of them..
