Digg strategies?

Hi there, I have heard that submitting your articles or website urls to Digg is a great way to get backlinks and popularity. My question would be how the heck do you get people to find you via Digg? What type of strategies can you employ to get the most Diggs?

    Thanks

Don't even bother - Digg's system is completely whack. I've dugg a ton of my sites and I only recieved a backlink for one of them, which is now gone according to Yahoo. As far as I can tell, even if you're lucky enough to get your backlink counted, it won't last for long.

That's just my take though - I'll admit that I have yet to figure out all the intricacies of how exactly Digg runs it's stuff. I know there's some sort of link-masking going on there, although it seems inconsistent...

as a link builder/baiter and someone who has made the digg homepage a dozen of times, i can tell you that you are not going to benefit from digg by submitting junk for just the sake of submitting. (unless it's an inner page and the targeted keyword has something to do with a future trend, so you are actually submitting to rank for a keyword in the future, this is a complicated subject)

to benifit from digg, you should aim for the homepage, to make the digg homepage, you need extraordinary baiting material, (Creative content, No Links will come of nothing) : Great story, breaking news, innovations, outstanding video, useful list.. (to sum it up, you need a real piece of work, let your work negotiate the links for itself)... and even with the right material you will still need a killer title, a good description and of course your friends to give you a little boost (with hundred of submissions per minutes, it's very easy to get burried down before even you get a chance to get noticed)

    good luck.

you need to litterally make friends with your digg friends. ETC instant message, email share stuff with them. that is the only true way to get to the front of digg. I used to have over 2000 friends before digg banned me. I made it to the front page about 90 + times. and was even charging people to get their stuff to the front!.. ahh those were the good ol days .

You can also try out digg like site Mixx that has some new features to aim for getting the breaking news to home page faster.

People's view of Digg seems to be largely negative for acquiring backlinks. Does every social bookmarking site have the same problems or are there better ones out there?
