Diggbar simply rules - I like it! Well I think it's the same as before - very similar to StumbleUpon service.
Interesting, dunno if I like it, the link is still on top of the story in the tool bar - I am not sure what kind of juice that can extract, but how long until we see frame busters again ...
It's been awhile since I saw websites framing themselves over another like that. Not a fan at all, and I think the digg community is going to be pretty upset too. But, the site is bleeding money, they have to resort to things like this or else. You'll still get linkjuice from everywhere else that gets it's content from digg, but possibly not the RSS syndicators
I just noticed this as well. Quite frankly, i think this will kill the majority of submissions to digg. I mean, why post on digg anymore? you can get the same sort of traffic from reddit, + link juice. edit: okay, so. the page itself will still pass link juice ie (http://digg.com/d1no6I), but the story will not, only the link itself. so, the links that you would previously get from tag pages or upcoming pages no longer counts. Very interesting idea, but IMHO it is a greyhat attempt to rank higher than the story's homepage.
The diggbar is a stupid idea in my opinion. It uses up slightly more resources for Digg while inflating their numbers very high. Advertisers know tricks like this so they will not pay more or get more for it. I think it will hurt Digg pretty good. I don't see why these models keep changing such as Digg and Facebook when there not broke to begin with.
Try some Arbitrage using their short URL service ... nice cloaking on offer for free and it makes it harder to track when doing blackhat / grayhat methods ... might have to think of a way to use this for blackhat ...
I thought the Digg bar was well thought out from a Digg shouter/listener perspective. Short URL ... email, Twitter, and Facebook buttons. Not sure what it will do for the original publisher though. My guess is that it will help.
DiggBar is simply a good copy of isitfunnytoday.com (a cool site in my opinion). I should be removing digg as dofollow from my social bookmarking list
well, that's the classic example of not using SEO in one place or technique.. coz it does not always work. I use digg sometimes, but I never rely on digg as well. as long as i get good traffic, I am happy.. but yes, digg used to be good source of traffic though.. poor thing.. i think many people will stop submitting
I think its a huge loss for those who used to get decent amount of traffic trough Digg. They still can get, but digg guys have added 1 more step to click the link from digg bar and then move to the actual website.
Wow, never knew that they reverted to not supporting linky love. This will stop a lot of bloggers from using Digg as it has slowly began a site where it was only for link juice purposes and not traffic purposes. Nowadays traffic from Digg is very minimal.
it is not a good idea. this means they only care about themselves. how about people like us who has been supporting digg all the while?
