I have submited 3 interesting videos recently to digg trying to promote http:www.pimpmefamous.com and got dugg all 3 times. After that my url got reported. Same thing has happened to my other website. When diggers realise the same site made it to the top more than 1s they just report you.

That is BS. I don't see it as a problem as long as the content is not duplicated...so a site can't get good content all the time now?

I think the point was that if enough people report a site then it gets banned. Thats the democratic nature of digg. Even DP is banned.

Im quoting you one of the comments: "Who the hell keeps on posting this site..why are we even supporting this?" Thats after 3 stories.

    edit-

    follow ups:

    Submitter seems to love pimpmefamous

If by "love" you mean "work for", then you are most likely correct.

    Bam! Everyone reports you.

Isn't DP banned at Shawns request?

If it is, I don't blame him. Digg sends a burst of traffic that could make DP unstable for short periods, if something reached the first page. Maybe he's just preserving the site so that it works reliably for regular users?

Neither do I. It made the forum completely unusable when a thread got dugg

If it was at shawns request I hope he un-bans it once the new servers are in place. Sometimes there is some digg-worthy stuff on the forums.

I suspect its nothing to do with shawn though.

Why don't you create content worth digging, then it will occur naturally.

Seems like a pretty simple formula to me.

Once again I am not thinking of spamming digg I am just discussing the fact that people don't seem to be spamming it on a grand scale yet. Whether my content is digg-worthy is irrelevant.

Obviously that was my impression but from comments made by shoemoney and the thread started somewhere else and linked to above its clear that methods are in place to spam digg and I was just not aware of them.

The solution, though, is to blog about the thread at DP adding your own perspectives, history of the topic and summarising the arguments, theories etc and linking to the DP thread.

That way you are "adding value" and still getting the information into Digg.

Maybe. I don't have a blog though. :) There was a front page digg about the google errors that used this method yesterday I think.

Then go to www.wordpress.com and get one ;) or any of the other free blog hosts. Or write the article and submit it to someone who does.

I might - if I liked the topic - or these guys might: http://www.thirdsquare.com/

Well, I'm not saying you should digg whatever is in the list, but the stuff you like. There are many story that are worthy of front page but doesn't get to it because there's not enough people "in favor" of it. Sometimes even only the title can make it that you're story isn't dugg while the content is great stuff. The idea of having the DP community becoming all friends over digg would allow us to see what our fellows DP have posted and if it's digg worthy, we give them a small push. I'm not thinking about spamming in the sense you'd be digging EACH AND EVERY story which would be submitted.
