The thing i don't get is the prupose is for people to digg your site if they like your site or article... well if you ask people from your site to digg your article why not as it is promoting both... i think in the long run this is going to hurt digg more than it will gain.... now i am not talking aobut just digg to digg but i mean making a post digg my article if you like it or link on your article on your site digg it if you like it....
hahaha. I told my girlfriend a few weeks ago that if I ever say "digg" then she has to say "fuck digg." The reason behind this? I found out the founder was Kevin Rose. I used to do freelance php/mysql work for him a few years ago, and I had to go through hoops to get paid for my, obviously, last project with him.
Its a bit heavy handed to ban people who are just asking for diggs. Digg requests never get more than about 10-20 diggs from DP so the problem is hardly affecting digg. A far better solution would be to just use the digging algorithm to give less weight to people who are known to be digg spammers. I can still view the front page which is all I ever do so I am happy.
Sarah, how did they decide who to ban? I tried to log in and it said "bad ip address" DIid they seriously ban everyone who posted in that "digg bigg" thread? Everyone from Digital point??? How did they pick me and know my ip or user name to ban?
At least a warning could have been better!! They blocked my IP address, thats the worst part of it. Certainly they lost one customer permanantly
Yea, I understand that part. The part I do not understand is how and why they DECIDED to ban MY IP address...
I got banned yesterday. Oh well no great loss in my opinion. There are dozens of other digg type sites if I want to use that type of site.
They did not ban only DP members, Namepros and v7n members got the same experience. Mainly namepros, where many members told about their account being Banned.
Thats stupid, why would you ban an entire message board for what maybe 5% of the members are doing??? That's not only stupid, it's probably illegal. If someone can sue google for not indexing their page and the judge actually give it more than .01 seconds of thought, than Im sure dig can be held liable for these actions, if someone actually wanted to take it that far.
Your IP will have been banned when they decided to ban your username (ie you). Now, why they decided to ban you is another question altogether. Personally, I don't think there should be a restriction on submitting your own stories promoting stories at digg using their rss feeds to promote digg stories but you should be restricted from inciting people to click without making a value judgement on the story submitting stories which are junk eg nutrition for soccer players when the story is a couple of paragraphs of junk forming groups with the sole intention of driving stories to the front page But since I have no intention of "putting my money where my mouth is" and build my own, I'm happy to be a casual user of these sites. And, as LGRComp states, there are plenty more to choose from. Shawn's ok
