Well that was disappointing. Digg appear to have a user base but they're just resposting content on other sites. That might have been ok in 2012 but we've moved on.
Digg and Reddit were both built to meet the needs of an increasingly more isolated web audience as well as Digg was, and still is a better news aggregator than Reddit, but what Reddit did better is the discussion and comments. I think main difference between reddit and digg is how things are categorized.
There are pros and cons to both Digg and Reddit. Digg has a more streamlined design, while Reddit has more of a community feel. Digg also seems to have more breaking news stories, while Reddit is better for finding interesting and funny content. So it really depends on what you're looking for. Personally, I use both sites depending on what I'm after. What do you think?
Reddit. You can make your own subreddit and people are used to searching reddit about as much as they are google.
