Digg has been very useful social bookmarking site as all our new submission was getting dofollow backlink from them. Well, not anymore. Digg has changed it's policy to give nofollow on all new submission, profiles, external comment links, and story pages. They will only remove nofollow tag on stories that they are sure about. I guess how many stories they will be sure about and will give dofollow. Surely, it is something that Google will be boasting that one of largest and famous social bookmarking have joined their rel="nofollow" tag. Ref: http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/digg-nofollow-links/
i stopped liking digg years ago. There staff are complete Snobs and eventually they will burn their own bridge.
Ya it sucks, but at the same time it seems fair to me. It's not like they are removing them completely.
yeah, bad news , but if i was the owner of digg i would definitely do it, the amount of junk and spam that they get is unbearable, plus if you story get some votes (don't know how many yet), it will get a dofollow, only the junk and spam will stay nofollow according to them
Anyway, You could improve your traffic via social bookmarking sites. Using Digg could still be a very effective way to promote a site. Even if Digg is no follow now, submitting to Digg could accelerate a post on your site to be indexed by search engine as google.
I think digg will decrease their traffic because of this no-follow attribute issue.Any ways thanks for this very good information.
wtf, thats very sad news for people who do manual link building using social media sites like digg, propeller, reddit
I m also agree... it is required... those who are using digg for just backlink had a big disadvantage..
There are lots of other DO FOLLOW social bookmarking now. (I have a compilation on my own, but still need to sort it out.)
Thanks for this news. Even we have not get backlinks from digg but I think we still get traffic from digg. ^_^
