Well said. The traffic from digg is not targeted and hence monetization is problematic. You require a dedicated server; otherwise, your site can't be accessed for the rest of the month and reaching the first page is purely a luck and it happens rarely...
Agreed. Many sites make front page but you end up going to a 404 page because the servers couldn't keep up.
WOW, I have never seen a spike in traffic that high before! I've got to really get into this digg game!
Thanks for your input At least Digg may provide a backlink very quickly I made a test on my personal blog (first name - name.com) digging 1 post 1 hour later, the link on Digg appears on the third page of Google for the keyword "first name name"
haha yeah i mean nice work earning 130 but that only came from cpm ads. Its no suprise that otherwise the digg traffic would not have amounted to any money
Our servers can handle that kind of load, they are designed to do so. If something gets close to their limit on our packages and it is a strain on the Shared Server, then we may move them over to a dedicated or VPS, for the remainder without any extra charge to our clients. ~ Mike
Update Traffic today from digg is about 1500 (see, how it drops), but some other sites are picking up the story and sending hits. Some 500-600 additonal visits.
yes, traffic is not targeted from such kind of bookmarking sites like digg and stumble. But, it's a big deal to earn revenue from adsense through this traffic.
Oh your are cool I should start digging in this social network. No success for me till that moment How can I place my website in the front page, many ideas, but nothing happened
That's really incredible. I wish social bookmarking was more predictable. I didn't know that, makes a lot of sense though. So...unless you can handle that kind of traffic, you're screwed if you get on the first page.
I agree...DIGG (and other social bookmark sites) are awesome! I have used a submitter program and have played with it and found great results. Definately helps with your websites traffic plan. Peace, DJ Bill
I'm actually amazed at how much traffic you've got. If anything Digg has declined a LOT in popularity over the last 6 months, so it's completely nonsensical that you managed to attain way more traffic than i've ever seen from a Digg front page story.
Digg is still the top 250 websites in the world, getting millions of pageviews per day. And in response to a previous customer, social bookmarking sites are predictable if you know how to utilize them. Check out my signature "Social Elves".
