I have this huge feeling that Weblogs Inc. Network blogs is paying the top diggers to submit their stories to digg..if you go to the frontpage right noe autoblog one of its blogs has 5 stories in the frontpage! and also engadget which is also one of their blogs..that translates to thosands of hits over 1 hour IMHO. there was a story before too on digg about the top bloggers admitting to be paid several times to submit stories for big companies (hint hint nytimes) is it just me ?
Engadget.com gets close to 1,000,000 UVs per day. A lot of diggers try to submit stories they know will become popular to increase their # of friends and improve their ratios (even now with the top diggers list gone). As a result, sites like engadget that promote digging (with the digg widget), often get a huge # of diggs on relatively banal news. While it's believable that Engadget gets dugg a lot due to their size, autoblog is quite a bit smaller and 5 front-pages in a day seems hard to believe. I wouldn't be surprised to find them paying someone to digg, but I wouldn't be too surprised if a bunch of Digg users were car buffs and Autoblog had a few decent stories. Final vote: engadget - no gaming autoblog - maybe Smiling, Anita
Digg also helps to get lots of links. I received a hundred or so backlinks each time my site was dugg.
