lol, I just wanted to check out digg.com at google and saw that it 's not listed. I'm running similar site and I'm afraid it will happend to me ;/
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=digg.com&btnG=Search Sorry, no information is available for the URL digg.com
DIGG is well indexed and ranks decently for stuff - Here is a non competitive example where it is #3 using keywords from the post
digg is only for technology related articles/? how is it so successful then? are there digg sites for auto/entertainmetn etc?
I still find this odd . Entering this type of query should reference digg.com in some way, no? Go ahead and enter your own domain name, mine produces plenty of related results.
It's all about the social networking. Word of mouth over search rankings for them. They got their start with the audience of TechTV (taken over by G4). Kevin Rose (co-founder of digg)was a host on the Screensavers and people are/were quite fanatical about their loyalties to TechTV. Another example of this word of mouth craziness is TWiT - This Week In Tech. Another result of the Screensavers. The thing is, they really are providing quality services. digg is a completely easy to use, easy to signup, easy to follow "social news" service. TWiT provides a great cast of well known celebrity tech geeks that know their computer stuff. Without actually providing this decent content, they would never have become so successful.
It is strange homer. Might be something to do with digg's internal structure and "BigDaddy". By default I think that entering a url into google is like putting in a "info:" query.
