I don;t get much from Digg either, my choice is StumbleUpon as I see much more of a response in terms of traffic
Most of the digg users are now in the reddit forum. So it is boring and most of the stories on digg are from the users who are into self promotion.
Digg.com is not working for me. I am getting almost zero visitor from Digg. But, Facebook and Twitter are providing decent amount of traffic regularly.
To succeed with Digg, you need to have a fellowship who will endorse your link and digg it upwards (not less than 50!). If not, the Digg trolls will bury it. It's very difficult to appeal to the crowd in Digg. Reddit is better but you need to bring real good links to the crowd, else it's the trolls' hammer! On the other hand, Hackernews is even better!
Digg lost their 'mojo' a while ago and it doesn't look like its going to come back any time soon. In it's hayday it certainly was one of the best in the social bookmarking market though.
