IMHO Digg isn't worth $300M....someone might pay that price though. I believe Kevin is ready to move on to bigger and better things ;)

Wow, interesting. I don't think i'd pay that much for it though, I mean the upkeep cost of it must be massive, getting your money back would take a while.

Google could create their own Digg like site for much less than they could buy it ;)

It wouldn't be the same. Digg is now an established brand.

Saying google to anyone brings to mind a search engine. Not a site like digg, their brand is totally different.
Google could make one but they would just be re-making the wheel so to speak. Then there are costs for getting it established, big costs, probably more than what buying digg.com would be.

Possibly, but then why didn't they just buy Statcounter (Analytics)?

Maybe they knew it wasn't worth it, I mean analytics doesn't have any ads on it, it wasn't really made for a profit so paying a lot of $ for a site like that would have been a stupid idea really.

So if Google developed a feature similar to Digg it wouldn't be profitable??? If Google did do this and added a widget to Google News and Youtube then Digg.com would only be worth the domain registration fee.

lol I'd buy Digg for around $30 mill if someone gave me the cash to do so :) like a bunch of venture capitalists.

BTW $300 million isn't worth it for Digg, you could make a social network that would compromise for a lot less.

Of course Digg isn't worth 300$ million. That's way too much.
If Digg DOES actually make 20k a day, means 600k a month.
    600k a month = 7,200,000$ a year.
10 years worth of time is about 72million dollars.
To get to 300million with this kind of revenue (20k a day), Digg needs to be able to keep this rate up for 40+ more years.

well dude... Digg didn't start with $20k earnings per day... So, the chances are high to reach peak depending on the management. Just my opinion
