Here's an interesting topic of conversation. I just created a site that allows people to easily do StumbleUpon exchanges without getting cheated: http://www.stumbleswap.com/ Users put in the URL they want stumbled, they stumble someone else's URL, then their URL goes into the databse awaiting to be stumbled. The great thing about it is that it checks to make sure all URLs actually get stumbled before moving on so no one gets cheated out of stumbles. The only problem is that I can't seem to get people interested! Its quite baffling to me honestly. There are so many SU exchange threads in the Freebies forum. And ironically enough, my thread that describes my site gets absolutely no comments and gets buried amongst the SU exchange threads! What's the deal? Is it confusing people? The beta testers have all said it was by far more efficient than any other exchange site and blows message board exchanges out of the water. This is easily the most useful site I have ever created and oddly enough, it gets ignored. What am I doing wrong?!?
Not your fault, but I just tried that and the site that popped up was a rather nasty right-wing one that I couldn't give a thumbs up to if my life depended on it. I'll try again later. Other than that - it seems like a good idea to me.
I just tried your site and couldnt get it to work. It kept giving me errors saying I needed to stumble the page first, which I did, and finally I got an error saying the page needed to be submitted to SU, which it is. :-/
If you get any errors like that, just send me a message with the details. Its still kind of in beta. Are you sure the URL was correct?
I did try it again, and it seemed to work fine. I think you get the error message if you're too quick and try to get your stumble before the swapped page has finished loading
On that page when you ask people stumble another site, you should ask them the category. That way the error can be avoided.
Maybe a bit too boring and simple of a layout to be treated well. This one has a nicer user interface, I think - http://www.stumblexchange.com/
I like the site. It's simplicity gets you up and running immediately. Less is best in my book. My only concern is that when you click the link. StumbleUpon Toolbar could check the referrer and say "oh it's coming from a blacklisted stumble exchange. See Ya later cheater" If you can get around that I would be happy to use it.
