hello everyone, I have had an activated adword account with 105$ which I loaded with 100$ promotional code i got in my webmaster tools. Three days ago I thought of utilizing that credit so I made a page in my website http://oscience.info the page is "online calculator" that you can also find in my signature. Then i created a new campaign in adword with keyword "online calculator" and all keyword suggestions that adword automatically suggest me. And now i am getting about 100 visitors each day with only average 0.06$/click cost. Most of the visitors (>80%) are from UK and the main keyword from which i get more than 70% visitors is "online calculator" I made the page and adword campaign thinking the visitors to this page will bookmark my site and also visit my other pages. But none of visitors among >300 till now have visited any of my second page. And they also haven't used the calculators on the page. According to my statcounter stats all of adwords visitors just visit my page and then leave it. Can you please help me why are peoples not using the calculator in the page or visiting other pages. And sorry for my bad English. Subash Chandra Poudel
Where to start... What makes you think people searching "online calculator" would be interested in your site? Yours is a "All about science and math" site. People searching that keyword are likely not interested. They were likely looking for specific calculators such as a mortgage calculator or an imperial to metric calculator. The Search Query Report will confirm this. So you are not using the right keyword. You've got to be more specific. That Adsense block at the top like that is distracting. I assume you are not only trying to get traffic but to have them click on the ads. That may get you a poor landing page quality rating which will stop your ads. Frankly, I don't see many people clicking those ads as they are irrelevant from the ones I've seen. Just a bunch of other advertisers bidding on "calculator" for all kinds of products that 99.9% of people would have no interest in. Why would people bookmark your page? You show Windows' standard calculator which is also a scientific one. I have a simple calculator on my desk. The graphing calculator can be useful, if I had a use for that but I haven't really since my college days. If I did on a regular basis, I would get one (physical or software), not use one from a site.
@ Lucid Web Marketing Thanks for reply. I choose "online calculator" keyword because there were many searches but very less competition according to adwords keyword tool. But looks like the page i made in 5 minutes is not good enough for getting visitors. I will change keywords in adwords. And by the way , What do you think about the adsense block at the top? I have that block in every page of my site. Should i delete it or change it's size to get maximum visitors to my pages and also maximum click to the ads?
The ads are basically the first thing I see. When I land on a page, I want the first thing I see to be what I asked for, not more ads. I would either remove them or place them at the bottom. If I was actually selling something and making a sales pitch, I would never have ads on my page. I'm trying to sell something, why get them off my page to a competitor? Don't create a page around a term you find that has low competition and cost. Especially if you are just trying to get them to click on ads. It won't work. Instead, create pages around stuff you know and are passionate about. Do you know how to use a graphic calculator? Then inform on how to use it. Recommend the ones you think are best or best for certain kinds of jobs. Resell them yourself or affiliate with someone who does and get commissions on top of the ads. Sell your services, a book on how to use specific calculators. If you have a skill and the knowledge, believe me, people will come knocking on your door.
i think adwords traffic is not so good if you are not good in monetize it. People lose $$$ with adword due to no strategy but also people made $$$$ from it as well
