Difficult: Help 310 redirecting entire blog from root to /blog

    To fellow SEO'ers,

I'm moving my blog from the root of a domain to a subdirectory so that I can better theme the web-site.

But this carries with it some big potentially big issues.

I'd value your input on this one - particularly any issues which you think I should consider - because I want to make sure I've got everything covered.

    Background of the blog
    The blog is reasonably new.
The site doesn't receive a significant amount of traffic (yet) and only has a PR of 2 right now. So I feel it's best to make this change as soon as possible (before additional traffic / links / PR complicate things further).

    301 Redirects
I plan on setting up a series of 301 redirects in my .htaccess file from the old pages to the new (including all the RSS feeds) in the hope that current subscribers (on feedburner, bloglines etc) so that my subscribers won't be affected, and so that links to my posts will still retain some of the value of the inbound links.

    Homepage
The only page which will not be 301 redirected will be the blog front page.

This is because the blog front page currently sits on the root of the domain, and I don't want to redirect the whole root to /blog because I want to use the root for other purposes (a largely static themed homepage).
However, the homepage will have prominent links to the blog index, and will be backlinked from the blog.

    New Robots.txt file
As part of this "clean-up", I also plan to update my robots.txt to remove duplicate content issues (ie - wordpress using similar content in several different categories / directories of the site)

Is there anything else you can suggest? - because I would really value the input of other SEO'ers on this one.
