Here's the story : We have started with one TLD (.eu), created the website and everything. Then I managed to acquire the .com, which is now pointing to the same website. Obviously, I am going to use the .com for SEO purposes, directory submissions, etc. The problem is that right now when I type in my domain name in Google, the spot #3 is taking by .eu and the spot #4 is taken by the .com I would like to ask, can Google penalize me for that? How can I tell them that my main website is the .com ? In the Google Webmaster Tools, I have only submitted the .com. Help appreciated
You could get a duplicate content from Google where G will only list whichever site it believes is the correct one and not list the other. The best way out of it is to set up hosting for the .com site and 301 (permanently) redirect each page of the .eu site to the .com site
for me this is the best thing to do.. having a duplicate content can make your site send to GOOGLE HELL..
