Different terminolgy...does it make a difference?

This may sound strange but it's something I have been wondering about.

Here's the situation. I have been doing submissions in my directory for a UK client and I notice some differences in terminolgy. For instance, some of his sites are gift hampers. Normally I use the term gift baskets. Another one is car hire and car rental. My categories and most other links within these categories use U.S terms. I'm sure it's really no big deal...I'm just curious...what do you think?

I guess it depends on which clients you want to build the keywords for, UK or USA? I also learned long ago that (with Google at least) certain terms will get search hits for their Thersaurus equivalent, I think this can be a pretty savvy way of getting traffic if you can figure it out.
