Different sitemaps for different content types

    Hi,

    I'm aware that I should have a separate news sitemap to main content sitemap and that video data should ideally be included within the main content sitemap. However... would it matter if video was in a separate sitemap and forum threads in another different one?

    They would all be referenced by a sitemap index file as follows:-

    www.mysite.com/sitemap_index.xml

    will point to

    www.mysite.com/content_sitemap.xml.gz
    www.mysite.com/interactivetestresults_sitemap.xml.gz
    www.mysite.com/forum_sitemap.xml.gz
    www.mysite.com/video_sitemap.xml.gz

    The reason we are doing this is because those four different content types will be indexed in different ways so it's easier.
