Hey I just saw different SERPS from Google.com in this the competition is mentioned at the bottom of the page.
Erm this seems to be a reflection of a thread I got panned for posting but I will elabourate, if for nothing but to get other peoples opinions on the issue. As you know Google datacentres sometimes offer different SERPs but recently (for some at least) this has gone into overdrive. Where I was once 1st with indented for a keyword I do not rank at all on a .com search, only .co.uk. What is stranger is that this has recently restored itself and happened to two more keywords. Datacentre research has shown that there seems to be two status of SERPs ATM for some keywords, about 3 of mine are in this some. I am still trying to find out exactly why this is, some people are suggesting it is down to duplicate content or cannolisation but I am not sure on either, I think Google is screwing around with some keywords that are heavily related to retail industries.
I think we need time to access the damage/success. New theories will come and explain why it happen. Then everybody will go overdrive with the new theory and come up with ways to reach top pos. Just my opinion.
google.co.uk is a regional google - it will always show different results, because it targets a UK audience. Even (unfortunately, I think) for general subjects.
