Hi, Google is driving me crazy, like many of us, however, for several weeks now I noticed that if I search for something with Internet Explore on google.com and use the same keyword just using FireFox then I get 2 completely different search results! For my keywords I hope people use IE - LoL since in FireFox it is ranking not that well. Anyone have noticed the same or know what it is?
Is it possible that on one of your browsers you are using another google domain, for example: google.co.uk or google.ca?
Are you logged into another google application when you use I.E? gmail, webmaster tools, adsense, adwords? If so, you're seeing personalised results based on the sites you've previously visited.
definitely Google has different sources of data(or data centers), Google Algorithm searches result from Firefox, IE, Opera differs.. remember this one think that the search platform considers the "client", "UTF-8", country and etc.. Even my popular keyword ranking not that well in some of those browsers mentioned as "client". Thats it my small explanation...
search result will be same even you use any browser, i agree with "oradora" that you are searching as he said
My first thought was that you were using a different Google "regions" (for example, FireFox automatically sets me to Google.ca), but you could also be using a Google service that is creating personalized search results.
Maybe one thing you could try is to use a proxy site for both browsers to see if it will show too different results.
- different search setting for different browsers - you may be logged in in IE but not in FireFox - and, of cource - different data centres
may be the site is not compatible to the browser and google has ranked the better one. I mean better compatible sites are ranked higher. May be am correct.
hmm, thank you all for your replies, just to clear the questions this thread raised. 1. I'm not logged in to the Google Webmaster tools, Analytics or anything else, I also sign off in the top when I do the search in google. Firefox has cookies enable and IE has them disabled, I don't know if that makes anything different. I use google.com and only google.com in both browsers, and still the search results are different Several of my friends around the world and which I asked to make a search are noticed the same, from the US to Germany to India and to China! It is very strange to me.
Well, as I said, I make sure that I in both browsers use google.com No I don't use any proxy, looks like I'm the only one here that has this problem. Thank's for your replies.
IE vs Firefox wouldn't make a difference. However, something I notice ... google will cache search results. Often times, when you search ... it pulls up the last cached result, but then re-runs their algorithm on that search query. The result is you do the search, get the old result - do the search again, get a different result. But if you do the search a third time, it shows the same second result. This is because the timer on that cache has been reset and it won't check it again for another period of time. That's my educated guess why it works that way anyways.
Have you tried using another computer that has not previously accessed your site with either browser and therefore will not have the history of accessing your site that your computer obviously will have? PM me your site's url and the keyword searches that your using and I'll have a look for you.
