Don't redirect to the WWW just yet! Check to see which one is "worth" more. If the non-www is the one that has more backlinks and has the PR of 2, don't redirect to the www. If it's the other way around, go ahead and redirect to the www.
It's called canonicalization. Here and here it's explained by Matt Cutts. It's a pretty interesting read. I've also found this to be the case between http and https for the exact same url otherwise.
did you try to fix it from your google webmaster tools panel? there is an option you to choose with www or without www
It all depends on which way sites are linking to you. If they are using simply site.com, then that will gain PR and vise versa.
did exactly that. I wonder how long it takes until google links the two sites together. Could it be the next time they cache my site?
I set google webmasters to nonwww. i have it linking to non www because it has more pagerank, but i recently submitted into yahoo directory with the www. this sux. i did not know about this issue.
just found my answer, i can go into yahoo and edit the link after it has been approved. thank god, $300, do not want to wait 4-6 months for google update since all the page rank is coming from the nonwww
