Different PR for www.domain.com vs domain.com... why is that?

I have been seeing this more an more on some of my sites as well as a whole bunch of others. The pagerank for www.domain.com is sometimes higher (never seen it lower) then just domain.com. Does anyone know why that is?

its cos www.site .com and just site.com are both classed as too different domains, and the difference in pr is caused by people link to both the www. and without it

The SEs treat both different URLs differently. To avoid PR leak, its best to use a common linking format, typically http://www.domain.com

If you contact your hosting company you can have them redirect site.com to www.site.com and you can avoid any PR leak when sites link to just site.com

that's a good idea to send everyone to www version from now on...

is there mod_rewire rule that will append "www" if the requested page doesn't have one?

    Thanks

Both of you are correct, use the htaccess to do a mod_rewrite.

Right! Do you have the mod_rewrite rule handy by any chance?
