I'm curious for thoughts on this. Say you have an accommodation directory (ahem) you could search by accommodation type, or by location (or both). But what if you offered your visitor the option to show side navigation links to their preference of navigation (just accommodation type, or just locations), and served up those navigation links in every page of the site? In the end you would have a 'product details page' that would have different links in the navigation depending on which route you came through the site, but still have the same url and core content. Would that be a bad thing in terms of SEO? eg by location <navigation> city one city two - town city three <breadcrumb> city two > town > page name <page content for self catering luxury town accommodation> eg by accommodation type <navigation> Motels Self catering - luxury - serviced - beach front - cottage Hotel <breadcrumb> self catering > luxury > page name <page content for self catering luxury town accommodation>
Unfortunately, the average public user would not get it (how to use adjusted navigation). Maybe if you created a preference tab that would simulate a search box query and display navigation by rote...that would be kool D
